Tail Waggers Dog School

Our very successful foundation agility course has been running for 4 years now.  We  are very proud of what our previous dogs and handlers have achieved
on this course and it continues to be over subscribe for every course.

Agility isn’t just about running round with your dog and burning off energy, it is a mixture of drive, control, handling and team work.  All of which we work on building a solid foundation .  You will find if you practice at home this will be enough to tire most dogs out!  The exercises we use are the same as we use on our own dogs, and we have extensive knowledge of training all breeds of dog we have trained various breeds including  Newfoundlands ,Staffies , Border Collies, GSD, Yorkshire Terriers, Mini Schnauzers, Poodles.  We also have handlers from 7-70 years old!

You will learn.

·         Building Motivation in your dog ( for high drive dogs we will work on impulse control)

·         How to use toys and food effectively in training

·         Targeting

·         Jump grids – to teach your dog how to jump and use his body correctly.

·         Building Focus

·         Rock solid stays

·         Recalls and teaching your dog to chase you!

·         Games to get your dog to use all his legs and his head!

·         We will also begin teaching various pieces of equipment.

·         Shadow handling – learning how to handle your dog on a course without equipment.

·         Plus much more
You will get regular handouts to remind you of the exercises you have done in the lesson so you can practice more at home.

The course lasts 10 weeks and is for dogs 12 months or over.  Cost £85.00
We have a constant waiting list for this course, they are usually full up to 3 months before the course is due to start, so get in early.
Our next course will start in jan 2012.   There will only be 15 spaces on this course.

This course is a follow on class for those who have completed the Foundation/ beginners course, or have had previous agility experience but need a refresher.   
What you will learn on this course:

·         Teaching   your dog how to negotiate the contact obstacles independently.

·         Learning turns and crosses for handling more challenging courses.

·         Teaching the dog to weave, we use 2x2 method and channel weaves.

·         How to handle short jumping sequences.

·         These skills are built on each week as we begin to proof and test our dogs understanding.

You will get regular handouts to remind you of the exercises you have done in the lesson so you can practice more at home.


Once you have compeleted this course, you will be able to move on to our regular Tuesday evening classes

This course lasts 10 weeks and costs £85.00

This class is open to all handlers and dogs who are already competing in agility.  We run three classes on  a Tuesday evening.  The first class caters for Grade 1 Handlers.  Class two caters for Grades 2 & 3.  Class three caters for Grades 4+.  All classes are lead by our instructors.

We also hold several club matches throughout the year, for fun competition for club members.  They are held under similar conditions to a regular agility competition, but are relaxed and fun and everyone encourages each other.  We also have a points league from these shows with a prize giving each year at our annual Christmas meal.
